Introducing Yuichi HIRANAKA...
Yuichi HIRANAKA is a Japanese novelist born in 1965. 4 major
publishers in Japan have released his 13 hardcovers and 5 paperbacks.
He is known as the author of She's Rain (1985) took Bungei
prize:one of the most authoritative new writer prize in Japan.
His newest novel (10th book)Boku to Mizuki
to Setsunai Uchu--No Sorrow Planet (2000) was released in hardcover by Kawadeshobo :a curious girl nemed Mizuki uninvitedly moved in the apartment of an 18 aged would-be rockstar boy who is running away form his parents because they didn't delight with his future plan. For more than that, Mizuki is his girlfriend's little sis and pretending to be a boy....The summer of a lifetime begins!....
He loves The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald since his days of junior high. Started writing the first
novel when he was 17, inspired by J.D.Salinger's Nine Stories. With
the very same novel She's Rain he debut. Aged 18, in 1984. He also
loves Raymond Chandler and unconsciously, was deeply impressed by Henry Miller when
he was only a child.
When he appeared in the Japanese "literary world" he was accepted as
one of the followers of Haruki Murakami (the most popular quality-novel writer in Japan, born in 1949)
. But he survived such critics instead of---like the other followers did---getting
lost so far.
His works are not only the voice of younger---you can call it Japanese
"X" or "New Lost," if you want---generation, but also a kind of "novel
of manners" in the finest sense of the word.
They bring you something like cool breeze blowing in a big city or
its suburb. He loves to write beautiful girls, beach going, comfortable
clothes, smooth music or like that---something to make people feel good.
So you can enjoy IT through his books, too. The difference between the "minimalism"
from his works is that. They are everything but too pessimistic!
